| KEY TOPICS The assessment will focus on five "impact areas" or "sectors" deemed to be the most critical climate-sensitive elements in the Mid-Atlantic Region: (1) agriculture, (2) forests, (3) water, (4) coasts, and (5) human health. A variety of methodologies are being used to assess both the biophysical and socioeconomic impacts of climate change on each of these impact areas. In addition, selected issues that "crosscut" these impact areas will receive special attention: (1) ecosystems and (2) human impacts (economic and social). More detail on a third crosscutting issue--climate variability and change--can be found under descriptions of current climate and future climate scenarios. Last Modified: 12/03/1999 |
